Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey drops sparkling holiday anthem, 'The Star.'

The Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning (December 11) and a sprinkling of pop heavyweights were rewarded in the Best Original Song category. For starters, Mariah Carey was singled out for co-writing the theme song of animated movie, The Star, and immediately jumped on Twitter to express her gratitude. “Thank you so much to the #HFPA for the Golden Globe nomination for The Star,” she wrote. “As songwriters, myself and my dear friend and collaborator Marc Shaiman are truly honored. What a humbling experience to be included in this group of amazing songwriters.”

Nick Jonas was also recognized for “Home” from upcoming animated movie, Ferdinand, alongside co-writers Justin Tranter and Nick Monson. He filmed a video to express his thanks (below), while Justin explained why the song is so important to him. “This song is so special to me, cus when I was a young queer kid I was beyond bullied at school, but at #Home I was always SO safe,” he tweeted. “My family thought my fem ways were fucking fabulous!” Another big name in the mix is Mary J. Blige, who co-wrote “Mighty River” for Mudbound. She could win twice given that she’s also nominated for Best Supporting Actress. See the nominations and reactions below.

The nominations:

“Home” — Ferdinand

“Mighty River” — Mudbound

“Remember Me” — Coco

“The Star” — The Star

“This Is Me” — The Greatest Showman
